Meet our CEO & Founder, Katherine Frost

We are kicking off a new blog series where we introduce you to a few of the key team members at ORO. First up, meet our CEO & Founder, Katherine Frost.

What is it you do at ORO?
I oversee all operations and the fabulous managerial staff for each department! Equally as important, I have final approval over all company matters to ensure cohesion and alignment with the company mission and vision.

Tell us more about your background:
I started my career in sales for a DMC (Destination Management Company), and then established my first wedding and event planning company with this combined sales and operational knowledge … as well as my love for making things beautiful and memorable. I grew up in a “small town” called Houston, Texas where I was able to assist my parents with any events we had at our house; I decided which silver trays would be best for food displays and oversaw table design and final arrangements. One could argue this is where the real love for event planning began!

You have attended numerous memorable parties and events over the years; what would you say is your most favorite event ever attended? Did it have a specific theme?
My favorite event, based on theme, would be my sister’s debutant ball appropriately named, A Frosted Affair. It was in December and was magical! From the cocktail ice luges, the phenomenal band from Salt Lake City, and all the snowy trees with twinkle lights … it was a winter dream. Another favorite of mine would be a “South Beach” themed debutant party I attended in Fort Worth, TX. The colors, the cocktails and the bright dresses all made for a colorful evening! This may be when I learned the importance of making a well-rounded event; every element needs to serve a purpose and bring the party together.

What is your favorite place you've travelled?
I am in love with St. Petersburg, Russia and am dying to go back! The Peterhof Palace has the most impressive engineering of irrigation throughout the gardens making them simply breathtaking and the gold statues are truly inspiring.
