Event Planners are Resilient

People are starting to rehang Christmas lights in their local neighborhoods. The hope is that they can spread a little joy when things are seemingly uncertain. Even the Hallmark Channel is following suit by throwing a Christmas Movie Marathon this weekend (March 20 – 22). This is the BEST news I’ve heard in the past few weeks! If you are anything like me, nothing compares to the love and happiness surrounding Christmas in the month of December. If we can come together to show solidarity, compassion and good cheer, it’s a win. People are looking for something, anything, to smile about. If it’s lights from your favorite holiday in March, so be it!

After speaking to many of our industry colleagues, I’ve come to realize that we are SO resilient. Our job is to stare difficult situations straight in the face and say, “Not today my friend.” We have made an art out of overcoming adversity and sticky situations, whether that be due to ever changing weather, floor plans that don’t seem to pan out, or late vendors (the list could go on and on)…we always find a way!

With these unprecedented circumstances, now is the time to do what we do best, stay as calm as we can! Obviously, this is easier said than done, but find something to occupy that creative brain of yours. Start those admin tasks and paperwork you’ve been dreading doing. Begin some spring cleaning within your home while you master this WFH quarantine. Maybe even dive into something new (say an efficient and all-in-one software platform for event professionals …this is my shameless plug for www.oroplanner.com ). But honestly, spend some much-needed time with friends and family (virtual happy hours anyone?!), because when this chaos slows down, our industry will be ready to ride and bringing some overdue joy and entertainment back into everyone’s lives!
